Isaac Closing In

Please list three facts/vocabulary words that you learned today while reading the article about Tropical Storm Issac. 




Waves batter the coast in Havana, Cuba, on Sunday, August 26, after Tropical Storm Isaac passed the island.

  1. After reading the article 'Verge of becoming a hurricane', I learned that a levee means walls that surround a city to keep the water in the lake from coming into the city. Another word that I learned was surge, they said the 'surge of the storm' which means the worst part of the storm. I also learned that many people are going to try to stick out the storm, I'm not sure if that is a good idea because many people tried to stick out Katrina and that was a tragedy.

  2. After reading the article 'Verge of becoming a hurricane' I have learned that 1,800 people died in the last Hurricane. This Hurricane is 187 miles long. One more thing i have learned is that the surge of any stom is the worst part.
